Assisting Students with Academic Achievement Concerns
Mariner High School is deeply committed to academic achievement among all students. School counselors have the obligation to meet with all students doing poorly in their classes. We use progress reports to look at data and create interventions. When we meet with students, we go over an academic checklist with them where they commit to following certain steps that will lead them to success. I have done this with every student from my case load. The checklist is only signed by the counselor and the student, not the parents. After meeting with each student, however, I called parents about their children’s progress and documented those conversations on ASPEN. Below are a couple of documents that demonstrate what was explained above.
